Ashley's blog - part 5 Making It Count

Week 5 has come and gone. It’s hard to believe I have been now training in Circus Arts for 5 weeks (like seriously how is that possible?).  Although I am feeling stronger and trying to get over my fear of inversions, it is still hard.  I’m not gonna sugar coat it folks, this is a lot of work.  This week, I struggled with my climbs, but kept going and know there will always be some setbacks.  We continue to learn new things each week, which is exciting and nice, because some things come easier than others.

This week we were working on knee hooks (I missed this the other week) as well as single silk foot locks (yay for now having to worry about two feet going in different directions in the silk!) Surprisingly enough, it was a lot of fun and seemed a bit easier than simply just trying to climb.  I actually felt like I was accomplishing something and could move easier in the silk in the air.  Mentally it felt great, my feet however disagree with my excitement.

We are almost through the first half of the semester and now beginning to plan for the Winter Student Show (eeek!). I have a lot of work to do and a lot of progress to make, but looking back on day one, and I have come a really long way!

Catch you next week, when we start to piece things together and make actual routines!
